Lake Ave Recovery was honored to participate in Veterans Inc.’s 4th Annual Recovery Summit, held at Independence Hall in Shrewsbury, MA.
This year’s theme, “The Other You,” focused on healing, connection, and the courage it takes to embrace recovery. The event brought together leaders, clinicians, veterans, and advocates to share insights, celebrate resilience, and explore innovative approaches to treatment.
A Day of Healing, Connection, and Innovation
The Summit featured inspiring keynote speakers, awards honoring compassionate leaders, and sessions highlighting the importance of art, music, movement, and mindfulness in recovery.
A symbolic semicolon pin was given to attendees, representing hope, continuation, and the reminder that recovery is never the end of the story—it’s the beginning of a new chapter.
Lake Ave Recovery’s Impactful Presence
Our very own Jack Maroney, MSHCA, LADC1 along with colleague Dr. James Direda, played a key role in the day’s programming.
Jack joined an interactive session with fitness leader Anthony Bizzotto, demonstrating how movement and laughter can release stress and strengthen recovery.
Later, Jack and Dr. Direda presented on the cutting-edge applications of Virtual Reality (VR) in substance use disorder treatment. Together, they shared how immersive VR technology can help clients safely practice coping strategies, confront triggers, and prepare for real-world challenges—showcasing Lake Ave Recovery’s commitment to blending compassion with innovation.
