June is Men’s Health Month

June is Men’s Health Month! Did you know that men have a higher rate of drug and alcohol abuse than women? According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 10.8 percent of men experience substance abuse and/or dependency versus 5.8 percent of women. Studies also show that men may are more likely to abuse drugs or alcohol when they are feeling “good” to increase those feelings and also to cope with social or behavioral problems. Women, on the other hand, may abuse substances to self-medicate emotional or mental health problems.

At Lake Ave Recovery, we understand that our male clients come to us for different reasons and with specific needs.
