About Nicole Maki, LMHC

Nicole Maki is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who brings passion and unwavering commitment to all facets of her work. She brings diverse experience working with Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders through various settings including Intensive Outpatient, Residential, and Outpatient treatment.  

She also has experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as adolescents with aggressive behavioral issues and problematic sexual behaviors. Nicole received her Bachelor’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy from Emmanuel College, and her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University.

Nicole joined the Lake Avenue Recovery team shortly after the agency’s opening in 2020, spending four years as a clinician working to develop the program’s evidence-based and dynamic clinical group curriculum.  Through her dedication to further develop and enhance the quality of care provided, Nicole stepped in the role of Program Director in 2024.  She consistently approaches her work with careful consideration and implementation of programmatic excellence and quality of care.   

Nicole understands and has a passion for incorporating alternative interventions including creative expression to assist clients in developing insight, understanding, and exploration of the mind, body, and spirit on their journey to health and happiness.  She also believes deeply in the importance of the strength of teamwork and the support of a dedicated clinical team.

During her free time, Nicole enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors with her family and dog.
